Doctor of Psychology in Organization Development

Purpose of Program:
The Fresno campus offer a doctoral (PsyD) program in Organization Development (OD). This PsyD degree program, the only one of its kind in the United States, prepares people for careers as consultants, leaders/managers, or other organizational change agents. Graduates are also prepared to be faculty in local community college districts and other academic institutions in the area of organizational training and consultation, a high need-high growth field. The program addresses the need for increasingly complex and multifaceted organizational and management skills that encompass several disciplines. The first year focuses on the individual as a scholar-practitioner (organizational skills and foundation); the second year focuses on themes and cultures of organizations; the third year focuses on practice in the global community with orientation toward completion of the PsyD project and professional issues seminars.

Features:
This three-year, 66-unit post-master’s executive format program includes courses held one weekend a month and has been developed with the needs of the adult learner in mind and is accessible to professionals with multiple responsibilities. The intensive weekend executive format course schedule (Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday) makes it possible for working students to attend. There is easy access to the campus from the airport and multiple lodging accomodations, all within walking distance. Students currently commute from various cities in the United States. An International trip exploring business and change efforts in other countries is offered as an option. Distinguished professionals from the field of OD are invited yearly as a distinguished guest speaker.

Registration / Cost

Requirements for entry: The PsyD degree in organization development requires the completion of a master's degree from an accredited university which includes at least 9 units in organization development, organization behavior, social or behavioral science or a closely related field. In the case of a master's degree in other academic fields, either several years of work experience will be necessary in the field or the prospective student will need to complete 9 units in the MAOB program before admittance to the PsyD doctoral program. Approval of units/courses/work experience will rest with the Program Director. • A graduate GPA of at least 3.0 • Three letters of recommendation from previous professors or employers commenting on applicant’s ability to do doctoral research work and an interview with the Program Director. • Official transcript(s) • Details of Admission Requirements may be obtained from the Alliant website.
Requirements for graduation: Completion of all courses, payment of all tuition and fees, and the completion of the doctoral Dissertation.
Estimated Cost: $ 66,500 - 71,250 (2010)
Financial Aid: This information is obtained through the Student Services Director of Financial Aid, Fresno at 559-253-2208. Estimated financial aid is based on individual student eligibility and may therefore differ. Approximate available funds is $71,750 as of 2010.

The ambience on the Fresno Campus is friendly and warm, a reflection of its Central Valley location. The Campus is housed in a 41,150-square foot modern, air-conditioned two-story complex that offers quiet, attractive classrooms, two computer labs, a teaching computer classroom, a videoconferencing center, an audiovisual services center, laboratories and a library tailored to students’ academic needs. Four schools are housed in the facility: The Marshall Goldsmith School of Managment, the California School of Professional Psychology; Shirley Hufstedler School of Education; and the California School of Forensic Psychology, all offering master and doctorate degrees.

 

Master of Arts in Organization Behavior

Purpose of Program:
The MAOB is a scholar-practitioner degree, designed for professionals who want to acquire new skills and knowledge related to management and organizational behavior. The program is reflective of the issues and problems that business leaders face on a daily basis. Graduates are prepared to anticipate and manage change in a variety of organizations, including public, private, and volunteer organizations.

Features:
The graduate program in Organizational Behavior is a 34 unit, 16-month program. Courses are offered once a month in an intensive weekend format on Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday. There is easy access to the campus from the airport and multiple lodging accomodations, all within walking distance. Students currently commute from various cities in the United States. The program is designed to meet the educational needs of working adults who currently are managers, organizational consultants, human resource specialists, business owners, and other careerminded professionals. The program provides a practical curriculum related to management issues involving people and organizational processes. Students are trained in participatory management practices, leadership, team building, employee motivation, and organizational change and development. The curriculum also addresses issues related to employee satisfaction, commitment, and productivity. The faculty are working professionals who bring expertise and their applied work experiences into the classroom. An international trip is required reflecting the study of global business. MAOB students are not required to take statistics courses or write a research thesis.

Registration / Cost

Requirements for entry: While applicants are selected for entrance to Alliant’s graduate programs on the basis of their composite applications, the following items are essential components of the admissions decision. • A baccalaureate degree is required from an institution that is regionally accredited in the U.S. or the international equivalent, or the equivalent academic requirements as determined by the Program Director of the Business and Management Program. • All international applicants, in addition, must present a minimum score of 550 (213 computer-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or pass Alliant’s English Proficiency Test. • A GPA of at least 2.75 in prior academic work. • A GRE or Graduate Management Admission Test “GMAT” score is required as part of the application package beginning with the 2009-2010 Academic Year. • Official transcript(s) • References & an interview by the Program Director. • Details on admission requirements may be obtained through the Alliant International University website.
