Peter Norlin Named to Lead Professional Association

The Organization Development Network has announced the appointment of Peter F. Norlin, Ph.D., as its executive director, effective December 1.
“Peter Norlin is our choice to guide the OD Network in leading and advancing the theory and practice of organization development,” said June Delano, chair of the board of trustees. “For almost ten years, our executive directors have been professionals in association management, and those leaders have solidified our membership practices and financial position. Now we’re looking to an organization development professional to take the OD Network to a new level.”
Norlin is a well-known and respected OD practitioner with over 25 years in organization development. He worked first as an OD professional for USF&G Insurance and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maryland, and then as a consultant managing his own practice. As a consultant, he has worked with organizations from two-person partnerships to Fortune 100 companies in a variety of sectors. Clients have included the Public Broadcasting Service, Eastman Kodak, Pfizer, General Mills, and many others, including state government agencies and major nonprofits. His teaching experience includes faculty appointments at Vanderbilt University, Johns Hopkins University, and Georgetown University.
“Organization development is an evolving field, and we’re at a provocative stage in that evolution,” said Norlin. “I’m pleased to have the opportunity to lead the OD Network as we confront the challenges of a chaotic 21st century.” He went on to say that the future of the OD Network is to be “a laboratory for exploring change in global, cross-cultural contexts” as well as “a portfolio of resources for leaders and organizations around the world who are working to create mindful, inclusive workplaces and to ensure a viable future for our living planet.”
The OD Network is a U.S. based international association of professionals in organization and human systems development. According to the association’s mission statement, “Organization development is a field central to creating effective and healthy human systems in an inclusive world community.” Organization development professionals work in such areas as change management, leadership development, strategic planning, training, and human resources, among others.
